A little while ago, Lady Robin and I were shopping for a gift for one of our youngest church members. We both love to read, so we stopped at a bookstore to look at age-appropriate children's books. One of the books we both fell in love with exclaimed "I am God's Dream!" 

What a beautiful message to give to a child! No matter what anyone else says or thinks, God dreamed of you. It also stirred up memories of Dr. King's famous words,

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." 

Nurturing children in this sense of self-worth is part of what it means to be Beloved Community. 

Of course we had to buy the book for our children's ministry, so that every child of Beloved Community Church would know that they are God's dream, and that they are our dream as well. 

Later that night, Robin and I were reflecting on the day, it hit me. This book should be more than something we read to our children, it should inspire everything about our children's ministry. That is when we came up with the name,

Beloved Community Church Dream Team

The Beloved Community Church Dream Team is where our children will learn and be reminded of God's love for them. It where they will be told of the greatness of Black history that runs through their veins. It is where differences will not be seen as liabilities, and no child be just be tolerated, but where every child will be invited to see and to celebrate what makes them unique, while celebrating the uniqueness of one another.

As with every good team, there is a need for good leadership. To that end, the BCC Dream Team is captained by Nanny McTea Sitters LLC who are licensed and trained to care for children of multiple ages and needs. Their leadership has already proven to be invaluable, and it will continue to be so, even as we add volunteer support to help strengthen. 

While we are in the process of growing and rebuilding in a post-quarantine world, we need support to help sustain our Dream Team. With a monthly commitment of either $20, $50, $100 or $200 you can be a Dream Team Champion! Your monthly commitment will help the children of Beloved Community to experience God's love and be nurtured in God's liberation for generations to come.
